چکیده

Labeling diversity is an efficient technique recently proposed in the literature and aims to improve the Bit Error Rate (BER) performance of Wireless Local Area Network (WLAN) systems with two transmit and two receive antennas without increasing the transmit power and bandwidth requirements. In this paper, we employ labeling diversity with different space-time channel codes such as convolutional, turbo and Low Density Parity Check (LDPC) for both point-to-point and coded-cooperative communication scenarios. Joint iterative decoding schemes for distributed turbo and LDPC codes are also presented. BER performance bounds at an Error Floor (EF) region are derived and verified with the help of numerical simulations for both cooperative and non-cooperative schemes. Numerical simulations show that the coded-cooperative schemes with labeling diversity achieve better BER performances and use of labeling diversity at the source node significantly lowers relay outage probability and hence the overall BER performance of the coded-cooperative scheme is improved manifolds.

Cooperative Networks: Bit-Interleaved Coded Modulation with Iterative Decoding

In this paper the performance of bit-interleaved coded modulation-iterative decoding (BICM-ID) based cooperative network is analyzed over Rayleigh, Nakagami-m and Rician fading channels. In this system coding diversity is obtained through BICM and spatial diversity through cooperative relaying network. The analysis is performed for the relays operating in both amplify-and-forward (AF) and decod...

Optimal Power Management to Minimize SER in Amplify and-Forward Relay Networks

This paper studies optimal power allocation to minimize symbol error rate (SER) of amplify-and-forward cooperative diversity networks. First, we analytically solve optimal power allocation problem to minimize SER for three different scenarios, namely, multi-branch single-relay, single-branch multi-relay and multi-branch multi-relay cooperative diversity networks, all subject to a given total re...

Performance Analysis of Wireless Cooperative Networks with Iterative Incremental Relay Selection

In this paper, an iterative incremental relay selection (IIRS) scheme is considered for wireless cooperative networks in order to increase the reliability of transmission. Different from the conventional incremental relay selection which incrementally selects a best relay for only one iteration; the IIRS scheme iteratively applies the incremental relaying and relay selection processes. To evalu...

Diversity-Multiplexing Tradeoff of Asynchronous Cooperative Diversity in Wireless Networks

Synchronization of relay nodes is an important and critical issue in exploiting cooperative diversity in wireless networks. In this paper, two asynchronous cooperative diversity schemes are proposed, namely, distributed delay diversity and asynchronous space-time coded cooperative diversity schemes. In terms of the overall diversity-multiplexing (DM) tradeoff function, we show that the proposed...

A Multiband Multiple-input Multiple-output Antenna System for Long Term Evolution and Wireless Local Area Networks Handsets

A novel multiband multiple-input-multiple-output (MIMO) antenna system is proposed. The MIMO antenna system consists of two antenna elements, each of which comprises of three radiators: a driven monopole, an S-shaped strip and an inverted F-shaped strip and occupies footprint of 15x18.5x0.8 mm3 only. The driven monopole acts as a quarter-wave monopole and stimulate higher mode resonance. The tw...
